American Idol alum Laci Kaye Booth is making a self-titled debut under her new deal with BMLG Records. The season 17 fan favorite auditioned for her spot on the singing competition show in Denver. She showed off her vocal capabilities when she sang “Mama Tried” by Merle Haggard in front of the judges panel. Stunned by her raspy tone, Katy Perry, Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan all voted yes, taking the Texas sweetheart to Hollywood.
After placing in the Top 5 in 2019, Laci moved to Nashville to focus on her singing career. It didn’t take long for Big Machine Label Group executives Scott Borchetta and Jimmy Harnen to recognize her natural talent and fight for the country artist to sign to their label. Heading into the new year with a strong team, Laci began working on new music that will share her life stories.
Now, Laci’s hard work will be heard as her self-titled collection has dropped. The eight-track set was co-written by Laci, and some of the biggest lyricists behind country music such as Nathan Chapman, James Slater, Charles Kelley (Lady A), Sam Ellis, Laura Veltz, Jimmy Robbins and Liz Rose. “My whole life I prayed and I wished for this to happen. I prayed for it every night, and every time I’d blow out my candles on my birthday cake, I’d wish for it,” Laci said in a press statement. “In my heart of hearts, this is exactly what I always wanted.”
(@lacikayebooth)Laci previously announced the “biggest thrill of her life,” otherwise known as her newest album, on Instagram. “Creating this music has been the biggest thrill of my life, and I believe taking these past two years to just work & write has only made me a better writer, artist, and human,” the 25-year-old country artist wrote. “I hope y’all enjoy it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating this.” Laci’s track “Treasure” will hit country radio on September 13.
While appearing on singing competition shows provides exposure to a world of music lovers, it doesn’t always promise a long lasting career. Laci on the other hand, committed to her passions and worked hard to produce a beautiful country collection that shadows the greats of Shania Twain and Merle Haggard. Now that she has American Idol and a first album under her belt, fans can’t wait for her to tip her hat, kick off her boots and drop more music.
