Paramount+'s iCarly reboot has been renewed for season 2. The original iCarly premiered in 2007 on Nickelodeon, where it ran for six successful seasons. The hit teen sitcom followed Carly Shay (Miranda Cosgrove) as she navigated normal teenage life while running the popular web series, "iCarly," with her friends Sam (Jennette McCurdy) and Freddie (Nathan Kress). The series also starred Jerry Trainor as Carly's eccentric brother and guardian, Spencer. Fans were reunited with most of the beloved characters when Paramount+ gave the series a reboot, which premiered on June 17.
Now, the successful reboot has already been confirmed to return for a second season. Paramount+ has renewed the iCarly reboot for season 2, just halfway through the first season's airing. Production on season 2 will begin in Los Angeles in the Fall. The new season will air everywhere Paramount+ is available, including the U.S., Australia, Canada, Latin America and the Nordics.
The 13-episode reboot takes place 10 years after the events of the original series and follows the now 26-year-old Carly as she navigates adulthood and the relaunch of "iCarly." The revival show includes most of the original main cast, with the exception of McCurdy, who chose not to return. The reboot also stars newcomers Laci Mosley and Jaidyn Triplett as Harper and Millicent, respectively.
Paramount+'s updated take on iCarly includes more adult themes and situations, attempting to still cater to the show's original fan base, who would be in their '20s now. iCarly was one of many shows in high demand for a reboot for a long time, and it has seemed to successfully balance satisfying old fans and new. The show has ranked among the streaming service's most-streamed shows since its premiere in June. It will be interesting to see if the reboot makes it as long as the original show did.
