Kaitlyn Bristowe from The Bachelorette doesn't shy away from being openly vulnerable. The current co-host of the ABC series has already been praised for her honesty about therapy and mental health. Over the weekend, she didn't hold back when discussing the difficulties of homesickness.
Kaitlyn has been with Bachelor Nation for some time. After competing on season 19 of The Bachelor, she had a fan-favorite run as Bachelorette. Last year, she won the Mirrorball Trophy on Dancing With The Stars. Her and Tayshia Adams' hosting this season went so well, they've reportedly been invited back to host Michelle Young's upcoming Bachelorette season. In addition to her reality TV fame, she also hosts podcasts and launched a hair accessory company. But her successful career doesn't prevent low moments. Kaitlyn shared another vulnerable moment while missing her family and her fiancée, fellow Bachelor Nation alum Jason Tartick.
On Saturday, July 17, Kaitlyn got real with her followers via stories on her @kaitlynbristowe IG account. First, she posted a teary photo, cheekily captioning the snap, "My tear tattoo fits perfectly." Then, explaining her emotional state, the Canadian native shared, “Anyways, it’s so hard sometimes being away...I haven’t been back to Canada in two years." The 36-year-old continued, “I was FaceTiming my dad today, and I’m just feeling so lonely and obviously Jason left and he is having family time...I was supposed to be there and I couldn’t ‘cuz of work stuff and I’m just missing them and I miss the dogs and I’m just having a moment and...I need a show to cheer me up.”

The podcaster elaborated, “I was also FaceTiming with my mom and my niece and nephew yesterday and it’s just...been so long since I’ve seen them, and I know you guys know how close I am with all of them. It’s been really hard, and I love Jason’s family so much, so I wish I was with them too, but it’s hard because people give me s–t sometimes even about, like, ‘Why aren’t you with Jason for this?’ or ‘Why do you leave the dogs?’”
Recently, Kaitlyn clapped back at rude assumptions about her relationship. While dismissing those invasive claims with sass, it's clear they've still taken a toll. Even her request for comfort shows or movie recommendations brought in more trolls. In her final story before going to bed, she shared, “I shouldn’t have even asked for movie recommendations because that forces me to go into my DMs and then I see things like people saying, ‘have some dignity,’ ‘pull it together,’ ‘stop crying,’ ‘privileged problems LOL.’ I’m like, ‘oh yeah, I forgot that’s what I got in my DMs.’” While the haters may try to break Kaitlyn down, it's clear fiancée Jason has her back. He's been supportive of her every step of the way. Most recently, he fired back at comments picking apart her appearance.
The Bachelorette airs Monday nights at 8 pm ET on ABC.
