Idris Elba Becomes Knuckles In Cursed Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Fan Art

Idris Elba becomes a cursed image version of Knuckles the Echidna in new Sonic the Hedgehog 2 fan art. Sonic the Hedgehog became one of the biggest video game movie adaptations ever when it grossed $306.8 million at the box office in 2020.

The speedy hedgehog Sonic was needless to say not the most natural video game character to translate into the world of live-action/CGI. But the formula clearly proved successful on the first movie and now Paramount and Sega will dig deeper into Sonic lore for the sequel. Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will of course bring back Sonic himself along with Jim Carrey’s Dr. Robotnik, but will also feature an expanded role for Sonic’s sidekick Miles “Tails” Prower as well as introducing Robotnik’s accomplice Knuckles the Echidna. And in a stunning bit of casting news, it was just revealed that Elba will play the voice of Knuckles.

Elba will obviously not be appearing on-screen as he gives voice to the CGI Knuckles, but for some reason that didn’t stop Sonic fans from asking noted fan artist BossLogic to do his magic and create an image of Elba as the video game character. And what the artist whipped up in response to these requests can only be called disturbing. Indeed, BossLogic admits that there’s a “cursed image” quality to his fusing of Elba and Knuckles. See the bizarre art in the space below:

Click Here To View The Original Post

Needless to say the version of Knuckles that appears in the finished Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will not look remotely like this particular bit of fan art. The creators behind Sonic are indeed particularly sensitive to the looks of their characters, as they demonstrated when they altered Sonic himself on the first film after fans expressed dismay at the character’s appearance in early trailers. Ultimately, it was hard to argue with the visual choices made on the first Sonic as the film went on to be a surprise hit.

The arrival of Knuckles in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will of course make long-time fans of the Sonic video games and animated properties happy as he’s an important and popular character. What should make fans even happier is the sequel’s plot, which brings in the all-powerful Chaos Emerald and Dr. Robotnik’s mad quest to possess it. This raising of the stakes should indeed help make Sonic the Hedgehog 2 feel more epic than the first movie. And having Elba on-board as the voice of Knuckles only adds to the sense that things are a little more serious this time around. Of course, things still shouldn’t be too serious as the ever-outrageous Carrey is still playing Robotnik, and Sonic is still Sonic.

Samuel L. Jackson Teases Nick Fury’s New Older Look In His MCU Return

Samuel L. Jackson teases Nick Fury’s new, older look in his MCU return, likely in The Marvels or Secret Invasion. Disney+ has allowed the MCU to expand in ways beyond the cinematic realm. So far, WandaVision, Falcon and The Winter Soldier, Loki have all streamed to tremendous success. With What If…? up to bat currently, Marvel also has a slew of new shows lined up for the next few years. One of them is an adaptation of the popular crossover storyline, Secret Invasion.

The series seems to be focusing on Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) and Talos (Ben Mendelsohn), who were last seen during the post-credits scene of Spider-Man: Far From Home. The series has assembled an impressive around these two, to say the least, with One Night in Miami‘s Kingsley Ben-Adir set to play a villainous role. The Crown‘s Olivia Colman and Game of Thrones‘ Emilia Clarke will play supporting roles, along with Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo reportedly starring as well. Now, the project may have taken another significant step forward.

Related: Marvel Characters Emilia Clarke Could Be Playing In Secret Invasion

Samuel L. Jackson teased the return of Nick Fury in a series of Instagram photos. One shows off the character’s signature facial hair prosthetics, with a bit of grey in his beard indicating that he will look a little older when he returns this time around. Another is a selfie of Jackson wearing a t-shirt showing Fury holding the pager he used to contact Captain Marvel during Avengers: Infinity War‘s post-credits scene. Jackson also included the caption, “Guess what time it is! Back in the box, just in The Nick of time!” Check out the photos below:

https://www.instagram.com/p/CSbScFnL5vf

Click here to see the original post.

Jackson’s photo and caption strongly hint at him being on the set of a Marvel production, though he was careful not to reveal too much about his MCU return. He did not mention the project by name, but it can be assumed it is Secret Invasion for Disney+. Though his post hints more at Captain Marvel 2 because of his t-shirt, that role has not yet been confirmed for Jackson like Secret Invasion has, so he likely wouldn’t be allowed to share anything on social media about it.

Assuming all this speculation is correct, Secret Invasion has started filming. This aligns with previous reports that the series will undergo production from the middle of this month to December and release sometime on Disney+ next year. That said, The Marvels is also currently filming, so perhaps the casts of the two projects crossover more than Marvel Studios is letting on.

Is The Galaxy Z Fold 3 Waterproof? What You Need To Know

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is an exciting evolution of Samsung’s folding smartphone — but is the expensive gadget waterproof? This is something that previous folding phones from Samsung have struggled with. Whether it be the original Galaxy Fold, the Z Fold 2, or the Z Flip, none of those devices had a proper waterproof rating. They would most likely be OK if they were lightly splashed with a drop of water here and there, but they certainly weren’t devices to take by the pool or in a rainstorm.

Announced on August 11, 2021, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 improves on Samsung’s folding formula in more ways than one. The cover display now features a 120Hz refresh rate, the camera on the inner display is hidden underneath it, and the Snapdragon 888 processor offers welcome improvements to performance and battery life. There’s no doubt that the Z Fold 3 has the best specs of any Samsung foldable to date, but does it offer any meaningful improvement when it comes to water resistance?

Related: Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 Specs

Simply put, yes! The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 is the first Fold release with an official water resistance rating. Anyone that buys the phone should still treat it with care and avoid water if possible, but there’s no reason to stress if it happens to get wet throughout daily use. As Samsung explains, the water resistance makes it so “users no longer have to worry when caught in the rain.”

Digging a bit deeper into the Z Fold 3’s water resistance, the phone is backed by an IPX8 rating. That means it can survive splashes and droplets of water, in addition to full submersion in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for up to 30 minutes. So, if someone accidentally bumps their Z Fold 3 into the tub or sink, it has the necessary protections to prevent it from being instantly killed.

That’s a substantial improvement over the original Galaxy Fold and Z Fold 2, but that’s not to say the Z Fold 3 is impenetrable. Samsung directly advises against using the phone “for beach or pool use,” likely to keep it safe from chlorine, salt water, sand, etc. The Z Fold 3 is only rated for protection against fresh water and doesn’t have any resistance against dust. That means it’s a more fragile device than a Galaxy S21 or other ‘normal’ smartphones, so there’s still work to be done for future generations. However, going from zero water resistance to an IPX8 rating in one year is a massive step in the right direction.

Taika Waititi Wants His Star Wars Movie To Shock You With Feelings

Writer/director Taika Waititi offers an update on his Star Wars movie, revealing writing is still underway but expressing his excitement for it. Following Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm in 2012, the Star Wars franchise sparked back to life on the big screen with the J.J. Abrams-helmed Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 2015 that launched a new trilogy for the Skywalker Saga. After the varying responses to the latter two installments from critics and fans, the studio elected to move towards more anthology efforts in the universe, including a new trilogy from Star Wars: The Last Jedi writer/director Rian Johnson, a Rogue Squadron film from Wonder Woman‘s Patty Jenkins, a Kevin Feige-produced film and a J.D. Dillard and Matt Owens-developed movie.

One of the more exciting projects to have been announced was a film from Waititi, who was announced to direct and write the script with 1917 Oscar nominee Krysty Wilson-Cairns. Though initially having denied the rumors he was in the running for a Star Wars film after his work as a guest star and director on The Mandalorian season 1, he was officially confirmed to have signed on for the film on May 4, 2020, also known as Star Wars Day. It became one of many high-profile projects Waititi would attach himself to on the heels of the success of his first blockbuster effort Thor: Ragnarok, which includes the recently-wrapped Thor: Love and Thunder, a live-action adaptation of Akira and a new Flash Gordon film.

Related: What Taika Waititi’s Films Reveal About The Future Of Star Wars

In anticipation of the release of Free Guy, Waititi spoke with Wired to discuss the Ryan Reynolds-led film and his large roster of upcoming projects, including Star Wars. Though he wouldn’t offer any details regarding the film, the Oscar winner did confirm it is still in the writing stage but expressed his excitement for the work done so far and how in line it is with his unique sensibilities. See what Waititi had to say below:

“It’s still in the ‘EXT. SPACE’ stage [laughs]. But we’ve got a story. I’m really excited by it because it feels very me. I tend to go down that little sincerity alleyway in my films. I like to fool the viewer into thinking ‘ha it’s this’ and then them going, ‘Damn it, you made me feel something!’”

Given the large roster of projects Waititi is working on both in front of and behind the camera it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise he and Wilson-Cairns are still in the writing stages of their Star Wars film. That being said Waititi’s confirmation that he is now focusing on the film with Thor: Love and Thunder‘s production having wrapped does indicate a pretty promising timetable for when he might start shooting it and when it will com to audiences. With Jenkins’ Rogue Squadron already scheduled for a 2023 release and two unspecified films slated for late 2025 and 2027, it starting to look likely that Waititi’s film will be the former.

The other exciting bit to come from Waititi’s update on his Star Wars film is his excitement over the tone and story of the project. While Rogue One saw the franchise explore more war film genre territory and Solo attempting more comedic and heist tones, most of the franchise has felt fairly similar in tone and format, making Waititi’s confirmation that the film feels in line with his previous works the more exciting for fans of the filmmaker. Only time will tell what the Thor: Love and Thunder director has in store for the Star Wars franchise.

Exclusive Habit Clip Featuring Bella Thorne & Gavin Rossdale

ComingSoon is excited to debut an exclusive Habit clip from the upcoming action thriller from Lionsgate. The film stars Bella Thorne, Paris Jackson, and Gavin Rossdale and will arrive in select theaters and everywhere you rent movies on August 20.

“Reminiscent of early Tarantino, this edgy, outrageous thriller is one ‘habit’ you’ll want to acquire!” reads the official synopsis. “The action begins as LA party girl Mads (Bella Thorne, The DUFF) gets a gig running drugs for Eric, a washed-up Hollywood star. When their cash gets stolen and Eric is slain by a rival drug lord, Mads and her two sexy BFFs hide out by dressing up as nuns. But in spite of their costumes, these bad girls are no angels… Also stars Paris Jackson, Hana Mae Lee (Pitch Perfect) and Gavin Rossdale (Constantine).”

In the clip, Gavin Rossdale’s character, Eric, talks to Bella Thorne’s Mads about why she is in Los Angeles.

“Take a word of advice from a kindred spirit,” says Rossdale. “Keep moving before you get stuck. This place is a trap, you know. Just like those pits down by the museums.  Thousands of years ago this whole valley was a swamp, animals came from hundreds of miles around. Mammoths, sabretooth cats, dire wolves, all lured by the sense of sweet water, but the ground under this place isn’t solid but tar. It’s black and sticky as the devil’s shit. These animals got trapped and their dying cries lured scavengers looking for an easy meal, and they got stuck too. Thousands of years later, scientists are still pulling fossils out of those pits. Skeletons all mixed up. Be careful. Someday, someone will be digging you up and with so many bones they won’t be able to tell you apart.”

Marvel Reveals Infinity Stones Are Powerful Even After Being Destroyed

Warning! Spoilers for Tech-On: Avengers #1 by Marvel Comics below

In a Marvel Universe where the Avengers successfully destroyed the Infinity Stones, the remnants of the powerful gems still remain. In Tech-On Avengers #1, Thanos is finally defeated by Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and the Infinity Stones are turned into dust. However, Red Skull has found a way to use Infinity Dust to gain incredible powers, which gives him the ability to strip the Avengers of their powers.

Tech-On: Avengers is a new collaboration between BANDAI Spirits and Marvel Comics, which will see the Avengers get their own Iron Man-like mechs. The series will also feature several action figures from SHFiguarts as part of the joint project. The story comes on the heels of a similar project, Avengers Mech Strike, where meched-up Avengers fought against Kang the Conqueror as he attempted to fold time on itself. The new story is another mech-filled affair; only this time, the Avengers will be taking on a version of the Red Skull, who’s gained incredible powers from the Infinity Stones.

In Tech-On Avengers #1 by Jim Zub, Jeff “Chamba” Cruz, and VC’s Travis Lanham, it’s revealed the Avengers barely survived their final matchup against Thanos, as they successfully defeated the villain and destroyed the Infinity Stones. In the ensuing press conference at Avengers Tower, Captain America reveals the fight with the Infinity Gauntlet-wielder came with many sacrifices from heroes who “paid the ultimate price.” However, as Captain America speaks to the public, an attack is launched at Avengers HQ. After an explosion, the culprit, Red Skull (sporting a terrifying new look), reveals himself. He tells the team he’s got more power than ever, as he harnessed the remaining dust from the gems after they were destroyed and created the Infinity Mirror Shards.

While Red Skull doesn’t have the entire power of the Infinity Stones, he manages to take a part of it from the remaining dust. With the abilities, Red Skull takes away the powers of superheroes across the globe. Ben Grimm returns to his human form, Captain America reverts to his skinnier form, and Wolverine is almost killed instantly as his body can’t deal with the adamantium.

The Avengers can’t feel good about finally destroying the Infinity Stones, only to have the dust and remnants from the gems give Red Skull incredible powers. The villain might not be as powerful as Thanos with the Infinity Gauntlet, but the fact he can take away their powers all at once has to be terrifying. Without their abilities and mutations, Iron Man will be coming to the rescue, offering Marvel’s depowered superheroes custom mechs to take on the Red Skull. The fight for their powers is underway. Tech-On Avengers #1 is in comic book stores now.

Everybody’s Talking About Jamie Trailer: Richard E Grant’s A Drag Star

Oscar-nominated actor Richard E. Grant is a former drag queen in the new trailer for Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, a film adaptation of the hit musical developed for Amazon Prime. The original stage show, with music by Daniel Gillespie Sells and lyrics by Tom MacRae, first premiered in 2017 and has since been delighting theater-goers the world over. Based on a true story, it follows sixteen-year-old Jamie (played by Max Hardwood in the film), a schoolboy in the suburban north of England who dreams of becoming a drag queen.

Despite the success of the stage musical, the film adaptation of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie has faced some barriers to its release. A Disney/20th Century Studios production, a theatrical release of the movie was originally planned for October 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the date was pushed to January and then February 2021 before Disney ultimately pulled the film from its schedule and sold it to Amazon, taking the movie straight to streaming. Everybody’s Talking About Jamie is now due to be released on Amazon Prime Video on September 17.

Now, a trailer released by Amazon gives viewers a taste of some of the film’s bigger musical numbers and a better look at the supporting cast, including Grant (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Loki, Can You Ever Forgive Me?) as Jamie’s mentor and former drag queen, Hugo. While past trailers and teasers have showed quick snippets of Grant and other supportive roles, this new trailer provides the first detailed look into Grant’s character. Hugo’s former life as an iconic queen is on full display as Jamie and his best friend Pritti (Lauren Patel) find themselves in Hugo’s shop, which is filled with glamorous drag attire. Check out the full trailer below.

Click to watch the trailer

Like Grant, all other actors in the film version of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie are a completely different set to those in the original stage production cast. Other big names in the Amazon film include Sharon Horgan (Military Wives, How to Build a Girl), featuring as Jamie’s school careers advisor, while Ralph Ineson (Ready Player One and the newly-released The Green Knight) will play Jamie’s dismissive and distant father. The film marks the first on-screen appearance for Harwood.

Since its premiere just a few years ago, the Everybody’s Talking About Jamie stage production has been heralded as a joyful, big-hearted crowd pleaser and an iconic piece of LGBTQ+ work. Judging by the new trailer, it seems that the film will more than live up to these expectations. Audiences will find out for sure when the movie releases on September 17.

1000-lb Sisters: Amy & Son Match in Nightmare Before Christmas Outfits

Amy Slaton-Halterman, co-star of TLC’s 1000-Lb. Sisters, is sharing her love of all things spooky with her son Gage, who recently twinned with his mom in matching The Nightmare Before Christmas outfits. The birth of Gage, who is celebrating nine months in this world, was a true miracle for Amy, who always dreamed of having a baby but couldn’t because of her excessive weight. Now that she has a little boy to call her own, Amy is making sure he’s not only well-cared-for, but also introduced to some of her favorite Halloween icons like Jack Skellington.

In 1000-Lb. Sisters season 2, Amy’s husband Michael Halterman and sister Tammy Slaton watched in fear as Amy experienced multiple health scares during her pregnancy. Though Amy was instructed by her bariatric surgeon Dr. Charles Procter Jr. to wait several years after her weight loss surgery before getting pregnant, she conceived Gage only a few months later. For Amy, it was a struggle to stay healthy while experiencing typical pregnancy cravings for junk food. Amy’s diet may have fallen off track, but she gave birth to a happy, healthy bundle of joy. In true Amy fashion, she and Michael named him after the little boy in Stephen King’s Pet Sematary who gets killed by a speeding truck and brought back to life by his father.

Related: 1000-Lb. Sisters: Everything To Know About Tammy Slaton

Ever since the Haltermans became a family of three, Amy’s Instagram page has been flooded with adorable pictures of Gage. The latest post (seen below) shows Amy and her baby sporting matching black and white outfits from the classic Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas. Amy’s shorts have tiny Jack Skellington heads all over them. Meanwhile, Gage’s onesie features a hood, also with Jack’s grinning face. Amy included the hashtag “#twins” in the caption. Based on Amy’s Jack Skellington tattoo on her arm, it’s clear that The Nightmare Before Christmas is one of her favorite movies, and she wants to pass that love onto her child as early as possible.

The majority of Amy’s followers commented on how cute this dynamic duo looks. One fan called Gage the “cutest little squish ever” while others couldn’t get over how much he already resembles his father. However, some weren’t so nice as they critiqued the messiness of Amy’s home and her body. Several shared their opinion that it looks like Amy got heavier after dropping over 100 pounds post-surgery. However, Amy’s supporters came to her rescue. They explained that most women gain weight during pregnancy and as a new mom, it’s often hard to get back on track right away.

A premiere date has yet to be announced for 1000-Lb. Sisters season 3, but viewers are demanding for a Slaton sisters return to TLC. In fact, their diehard fan base created an online petition for the show’s renewal that has garnered over 6,100 signatures. As they impatiently wait for new episodes, fans can keep up with the Slatons on their respective social media pages. As Halloween draws closer, Amy will surely dress Gage in more delightfully haunting ensembles. Regarding Tammy, her followers feared for her life after she posted and then deleted a photo of herself smoking. At the end of season 2, Tammy contracted COVID-19 and was put on oxygen. Ultimately, fans want both sisters to succeed in their respective weight loss journeys, which at its heart, is what 1000-Lb. Sisters is all about.

Interview: Queen’s Gambit Sound FX Editor James David Redding

The Netflix miniseries The Queen’s Gambit ranks among the best shows of the year thanks to its abundance of amazing characters, terrific performances — notably Anya Taylor-Joy — and riveting storyline. The series was nominated for 18 Emmy awards and took home Golden Globe awards for Best Limited Series or Television Film and Best Actress — Miniseries or Television Film.

Included among the Emmy nominations was sound effects editor James David Redding, whose amazing work on The Queen’s Gambit contributed to its overwhelming success.

Redding was kind enough to speak with ComingSoon to discuss sound, his career, and ultimately his feelings on that Emmy nomination.

Jeff Ames: First off, congrats on the series! It was absolutely fantastic and probably the best thing I’ve watched this year! What ultimately drew you to this project?

James David Redding: Thanks. It was a great project to work on. What initially brought me to it were the people I was going to be working with, my colleagues Greg Swiatlowski and Eric Hirsch. I knew nothing else about it except they said it was about chess and should be pretty cool. I had worked with Greg on previous projects (Like Father, Hustlers), but I hadn’t worked with Eric before. After discussing the unique workflow that was being planned, with sound editing and mixing happening at the same time as some of the picture editorial, we thought it would be a great project to all collaborate on. A great way to blend our artistic nature and technical proficiency. Altogether it sounded very interesting and I looked forward to working with them.

What got you interested in sound in the first place?

As a child, I used to get easily scared by loud noises. My family still teases me about that. I think, though, we are all interested in sound, we just don’t know how to explore it. Sound affects us in so many ways. Most of us can relate through music, which is kind of where I started. I wanted to be in a band as a kid. Then I got more into the technical side – wanting to figure out how to get the best recordings. I went to Ithaca College and became a Television and Radio Major with a concentration in audio at the Roy H. Park School of Communication. Luckily while I was in school, through their L.A. program, I got to meet and work with Dane A. Davis at Danetracks while they were working with the Wachowskis on The Matrix. That experience helped me focus on my goal. I decided I wanted to create sound that helped tell a story.

Can you describe what the job of a sound effects editor entails? What does a typical day of work look like?

The job of a sound effects editor can entail many things, but the main goal, I believe, is to help emotionally support and elevate a story. We help make the world of the story more believable and tangible to the audience.

At the beginning of every project, whether it’s a podcast, video game, documentary or scripted piece, it is good to have conversations about the tone and sonic palette in which the project takes place. Discussing how sound can affect and expand the sense of the story (in the case of doing it with picture, expand the screen). From there, a typical day is applying these ideas through sonic manipulation and crafting the team’s vision for the project.

I have a library of sounds, tools for manipulating them, and the ability to try to capture new sounds to support the story realistically and emotionally. So everyday can be slightly new and different depending on what kind of scenes I plan on doing that day. Some days I sit in my studio listening to different types of doors opening and closing. Some days I am trying to figure out how to make a slow car chase intense. Some days I am putting the guttural growl of a Tyrannosaurus Rex into a documentary to emphasize the evil of war crimes.

There’s usually also coffee involved.

How have advancements in technology made your job easier/harder? Are there specific tools you lean on?

Technology has done both, made it easier and harder, just for different reasons. It’s made it easier to gather, edit, and manipulate sounds in innumerable ways. That in a way has also made it harder because you can come up with so many different variations, but eventually, you need to choose. It has also become easier to change those choices and move things and add things and… well I think you get the idea. The ability to constantly tweak a scene has its pros and cons, but you still have parameters, like deadlines, that you have to be able to work in.

Mostly I use a Mac OS-based computer running a digital audio workstation (DAW) called Pro Tools. Within that, I have plugins from Waves, iZotope, Krotos, Sound Particles, Native Instruments, and others to help me create, manipulate and mangle sounds. I have a sound effects library that I keep organized and search within with a program called Soundminer. I also have a portable recorder from Zoom that I carry with me to capture new and interesting things that I hear.

When you look back on a finished production, what makes you most proud?

When I look back on a project the thing I am usually most proud of is the collaboration/the teamwork. The producers, directors, editors, colorist, and sound team are all working their craft to bring the best experience to the audience and there is no better feeling than when you hit that perfect stride together to do it.

I mean of course, I like it when people mention that they like a sound I created, or they tell me how a certain situation made them feel in a project – especially when it’s something I’ve worked hard on to evoke that feeling. As a sound designer though, I feel I’m there, honestly, to be heard but not thought about. If I’m doing my job, the audience should feel the story without them knowing/considering why. I’ve spent my career so far learning how sound can affect a situation. That if a project is well received, even if sound isn’t specifically mentioned, I know I had a part in it that helped people enjoy it.

What drew you to The Queen’s Gambit? And how familiar were you with the world of chess, and did that impact your approach to the sound effects on the show?

I really didn’t know much about it before I signed on. I did know a bit about the chess world, as I had worked on a documentary about Bobby Fischer (Bobby Fischer Against the World) and my nephews were very into chess. I never really got into it though until I started working on The Queen’s Gambit. When I started editing effects I also started teaching myself a little bit about the game, probably like many other fans of the series.

It only affected my approach in that I knew the chess world can be intense and we needed to provide that to the audience. We needed them to feel it.

There are a number of moments in which players engage in very intense chess matches; and the sound effects ensure you always hear the moment when each piece hits the board — some harder than others. Was that a specific directive given to you or a creative decision you decided to run with?

It was specific and creative at the same time. We can control so much of what you hear or don’t hear, that rarely are things by chance. We use this control to help the sonic emotional storytelling.

What was the most challenging scene (or scenes) to work on?

There were a number of challenges, though the chess matches were probably the most challenging for sound effects and atmosphere. They can be intense, but they also tend to not be very large or loud. The crowd isn’t cheering throughout, so you need to build the sound of the crowd on the sidelines quietly anticipating and noting the moves. The sound of the pieces, the way they are put on the board. The clock. The whispers. The shuffling. All of that builds to help the audience feel the emotion the actors and the story is conveying. Then the cheers and the tension release at the end so the audience can breathe again.

You earned an Emmy nomination for your work, what’s it like to be recognized by your peers? Were you surprised by the nomination?

It’s always great to be recognized by your peers. I feel honored especially on a show like The Queen’s Gambit. I was surprised and not at the same time. Not surprised, because Wylie Statement, Eric Hirsch, Greg Swiatlowski, Eric Hoehn, Patrick Cicero, Mary Ellen Porto, Leo Marcil, Rachel Chancey, and the whole team did excellent work and made something that sounded amazing. I was surprised because usually a show like this, one with such quiet intensity, does not get noticed for its sound work. The acting, yes. The editing, yes. The directing and score, yes (which were also all brilliant). Bringing intensity with chess pieces… I’m honored that we were recognized with so many other esteemed colleagues.

Nia DaCosta’s MCU Sequel The Marvels Begins Production

In a recent interview on SiriusXM, Oscar-winning actress Brie Larson has opened up about Marvel Studios’ The Marvels, confirming that production on the Nia DaCosta-directed MCU sequel has officially begun. Larson also went on to tease the massive scale of the film’s sets, which might mean that the story would probably continue to take place outside of Earth.

“They’re unlike anything else. Huge sets. Huge amounts of people on set. Lots of specialists,” Larson said (via Comic Book). “It’s a really unique experience. I’m a huge fan of Disneyland, so to me it feels like I get to go to my own private Disneyland every single day. Because they’re building all of these insane worlds that no one else knows about, no one else gets to see. You’ll see it when the movie comes out but for now, it’s just mine. I’m in sets that are bigger than you can imagine right now. It’s really special.”

In addition to the highly-anticipated Captain Marvel sequel, there are also four other MCU projects currently in production including Disney+’s She-Hulk and Moon Knight shows as well as sequels Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

The Marvels will see the return of Oscar winner Brie Larson as she reprises her role as Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, who fans have last seen during Avengers: Endgame. The sequel will be helm by Nia DaCosta (Candyman), from a screenplay by Megan McDonnell.

Joining Larson in the sequel are WandaVision breakout star Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau and MCU newcomer Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel, in her own upcoming Disney+ series, which is currently in post-production. English actress Zawe Ashton (Velvet Buzzsaw) has also been cast for the role of the film’s antagonist. It has also been rumored that Jude Law might be reprising his role as Yon-Rogg. Popular South Korean actor Park Seo-Joon has also reportedly been cast for an undisclosed character.

Pokémon GO: How To Find (& Catch) Zacian | Screen Rant

Zacian is the newest legendary Pokémon to join the roster of Pokémon GO, and players can capture one during the first week of the Ultra Unlock event. During Go Fest, players were tasked with Global Challenges every hour. These challenges consisted of tasks like capturing a certain number of Pokémon or spinning specific PokeStops before the timer ran out. Since Go Fest 2021 was a huge hit and the community completed all 24 challenges available, Niantic has rewarded players with the Ultra Unlock event. This event is broken up into three different parts, and the final part was hidden during its initial announcement. In Part Three of the Ultra Unlock event, Pokémon from Sword and Shield will be added to Pokémon GO. Zacian, the legendary Pokémon of Pokémon Sword, will be making its Pokémon GO debut. Here’s how players can find and capture this legendary Pokémon.

Zacian is on the box art of Pokemon Sword. It is one of the Hero of Many Battles Pokémon and can change its form if it has its trusty sword equipped. Zacian will be joining Pokémon GO soon, so here’s how players can add this legendary Pokémon to their collection.

Related: Pokémon GO Players Plan To Boycott the Game Over Removed Bonuses

The Ultra Unlock Part 3: Sword and Shield event in Pokémon GO will take place over two weeks and the first week will feature Zacian in 5-star raid battles. This will take place from Friday, August 20 at 10:00 am local time to Thursday, August 26 at 10:00 am local time. Raids are the only way to catch Zacian so far in Pokémon GO.

Since this is the first time Zacian is appearing in Pokémon GO, players will need to determine the best Pokémon to bring to the raid to counter it. It is unknown if Zacian will be a Mono-Fairy-type Pokémon or Fairy/Steel-type Pokémon when it appears in Pokémon GO. The concept of Held Items isn’t available in Pokémon GO, so unless it has its sword by default, Zacian may remain a Mono-Fairy Type. Assuming that is true, these are the best counters to bring along when going after Zacian:

  • Mega Gengar: Lick and Sludge Bomb.
  • Metagross: Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash.
  • Dialga: Metal Claw and Iron Head.
  • Excadrill: Metal Claw and Iron Head.
  • Roserade: Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb.
  • Gengar: Lick and Sludge Bomb.

It’s also important to bring along a group of at least five other players when participating in this 5-star raid battle. Any less, and it might not be possible to defeat Zacian. Like Zamazenta, Zacian won’t debut with its Shiny Form in Pokémon GO just yet, so players can focus on just catching the basic version for now.

RHOC: Noella & James Bergener File for Divorce Amid Back Taxes Accusation

The newest The Real Housewives of Orange County couple Noella and James Bergener has filed for divorce after back taxes issue came to light. The new season doesn’t even have a start date, but the drama is already overflowing, and fans can’t wait to see how it all plays out.

The Real Housewives of Orange County just went through a major cast shake-up. This past season, the absence of Tamra Judge and Vicki Gunvalson left a major hole in fans’ hearts and Bravo’s ratings. Last season’s cast consisted of Shannon Beador, Kelly Dodd, Braunwyn Windham-Burke, Gina Kirschenheiter, Emily Simpson, and rookie Elizabeth Vargas. But fans found the women’s attitudes appalling and boring, all at the same time. While the cast tried to blame the worldwide pandemic for the show’s flop, fans felt the show hit an all-time low. Thankfully, Bravo heard fans’ pleas and brought back fancy pants herself, Heather Durbow.

Filming for season 16 has just commenced, but newcomer Noella decided to drop some dead weight and divorce her husband, James. Us Weekly obtained the court documents that showed Noella filed for legal separation in Orange County in August. The housewife cited “irreconcilable differences.” James is a personal injury lawyer known by the nickname “Sweet James” after his plethora of billboards that line the interstate. The couple just tied the knot in June of 2020.

The couple has a two-year-old son, James. Noella has filed for full custody and added that her husband should only have visitation. The couple has not been living together, and James has been estranged from his wife. Noella asked the court for spousal support to be cleared of having to pay anything to James. According to TMZ, James filed divorce paperwork at the beginning of the month while in Puerto Rico. Only a few months ago, Noella was bragging about her family and their vacation, but it seems something went wrong in their relationship.

Since the announcement of their separation, Noella has updated her Instagram bio to read, “Not so-Happy Housewife to Sweet James Sr.” News broke that the lawyer allegedly owes the IRS and the State of California $5.8 million in back tax payments. The Real Housewives of Orange County star has denied any knowledge of her husband’s tax issues.

Rainbow Six Extraction MTX Reportedly Leaked By Frustrated QA Testers

YouTuber BigfryTV has shared footage reportedly leaked by disgruntled Rainbow Six Extraction QA testers, who want the public to know about the excessive microtransactions Ubisoft has planned for the spinoff project. The French publisher is, of course, no stranger to over monetization. Such practices even plagued the likes of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey at launch, forcing early adopters to either grind their way through the story or pay for boosters that moved things along at a more balanced pace.

Ubisoft’s stated intention of focusing extra effort on live-service titles will, naturally, come at the expense of something else. This seemed most apparent when the publishing giant unveiled Tom Clancy’s XDefiant to the chagrin of those who love Clancy-branded titles. The free-to-play first-person shooter constitutes a crossover experience, allowing factions from The Division, Ghost Recon, Rainbow Six, and Splinter Cell to go head-to-head in battles set across iconic locales in Ubisoft’s Tom Clancy universe. As evidenced by the like/dislike ratio for the XDefiant reveal trailer, fans aren’t happy. They may not be jumping for joy if new Rainbow Six-related leaks prove true, either.

Related: When Rainbow Six Extraction’s New Release Date Is

Recently, YouTuber BigfryTV (via MP1st) shared about nine minutes of leaked Rainbow Six Extraction footage, which he was able to capture thanks to frustrated QA testers. Members of the contracted QA team have allegedly given feedback to Extraction developers that continues to “fall on deaf ears,” particularly with regards to the game’s monetization. One screen shows that 1,100 in-game credits cost $9.99 of real-world money; meanwhile, the shop menu features single Operator skins worth 1,000 credits and two-skin bundles priced at 1,200 credits. BigfryTV calls it “atrocious” even by Ubisoft standards. See the YouTuber’s full breakdown in the video below:

It’s worth remembering that the original sources of this information are disgruntled contractors. In addition, this bit of footage could stem from an older Rainbow Six Extraction build, perhaps one that fails to properly represent the final product Ubisoft plans to ship this coming January.

But, again, the publisher does have a history of employing egregious in-game monetization models. It wouldn’t come across as too surprising, then, if the next Rainbow Six entry fell prey to similar tactics. If so, it would seem, as BigfryTV puts it, that Ubisoft has yet to learn its lesson, a lesson that should’ve been loud and clear with the releases of AC Odyssey, The Division 2, Ghost Recon: Breakpoint, and, most recently, AC Valhalla.
