Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Loki's season 1 finale.
Sylvie actress Sophia Di Martino is just as in the dark about Loki season 2 as fans are. Di Martino plays Sylvie, a particularly dangerous variant of Asgardian God of Mischief Loki (Tom Hiddleston) who hides out in apocalypses all over the Sacred Timeline and is determined to take down the Time Variance Authority (TVA). In the show’s third episode “Lamentis,” the two bonded while trapped on the doomed moon Lamentis-1, developing an unlikely alliance. As the season progressed, romantic feelings developed between the two characters – which head writer Michael Waldron recently revealed was always a “cornerstone” of the original Loki pitch.
The season one finale of Loki, “For All Time. Always,” saw Loki and Sylvie face He Who Remains (Johnathan Majors) at the Citadel at the End of Time. Despite the blossoming romantic connection between the two variants, Sylvie ultimately betrayed Loki, throwing him through a time door back to the TVA. She got her revenge by killing He Who Remains, but, in doing so, set events into motion that destroyed the Sacred Timeline, throwing the entire multiverse into chaos. This cliffhanger sets Loki apart from previous Disney+/Marvel TV shows WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier in one major way – unlike the others, Loki is confirmed to be returning for season 2.
Despite her character having a major impact on Loki’s finale cliffhanger, Di Martino has revealed she knows absolutely nothing about the second season. In an interview with Collider, the actress stated that there had been “rumors” about a season 2 happening, but like everyone who watched Loki, she didn’t get any kind of confirmation until the end tag at the end of episode 6. Read her full quote below:
“I mean, there'd been rumors for a while, but I still haven't heard officially if it's happening, like officially, officially. I only know what I know through reading the news. And I know, because you guys know, because of the tag at the end of Episode 6.”

It’s not surprising that Loki’s second season is being kept firmly under wraps. Marvel has an infamous habit of keeping both actors and fans alike in the dark - a recent second look at Loki’s official trailer showed that it included fake scenes and altered shots that never appeared in the actual series. While Di Martino’s involvement isn’t officially confirmed yet, it’s safe to say that fans will see Sylvie again after she played such a vital role in setting up the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Sylvie’s future in the MCU remains a mystery for now, especially as her whereabouts are currently unknown after killing He Who Remains. The Loki season finale left a lot of major questions unanswered, so the second season has a lot of potential to be just as compelling as the first. Di Martino may not officially have any answers about Loki season 2, but fans can be sure that they haven’t seen the last of Sylvie.
