American Horror Story Season 10 Production Shuts Down

ScreenRant - Feed

Production for season 10 of American Horror Story has temporarily shut down. The FX anthology series, created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, premiered on FX in September 2011 with a different horror story every season exploring a haunted location or a specific time period. The show continues to have a successful run, most recently having a spinoff titled American Horror Stories that features anthological episodes. Season 10 of the show has been revealed with the title American Horror Story: Double Feature, with one story by the sea and one by the sand.

While each season features new characters, many actors have starred in multiple seasons of the show. This season of American Horror Story will feature the return of Sarah Paulson, Frances Conroy, Lily Rabe, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, and Finn Wittrock, as well as some new faces like Macaulay Culkin and Neal McDonough. In the previous seasons, the show has focused on a singular narrative revolving around the theme, so this is surely a different concept as far as its storytelling, which is something that has intrigued fans.

Per Deadline, it has been reported that American Horror Story: Double Feature will stop filming for a few days due to a positive COVID-19 test. With the season having two separate stories, the show filmed its first story featuring most of the cast members, including Paulson and Culkin, between December and May in Provincetown, Massachusetts, with no reported delays. The second story with McDonough and a cast soon to be announced, began filming at the beginning of this month in Los Angeles.

The tenth season has been delayed for a year during the rise of the Covid-19 pandemic and was scheduled to premiere in the Fall of last year. The news of the shutdown comes as coronavirus cases begin to spike in LA County because of the spread of the Delta variant, with the governor once again issuing a mask mandate for indoors, regardless of vaccination status. American Horror Story is now the second major series to halt production with season 2 of Bridgerton also shutting down filming for the second time due to its second positive case.

In the midst of what has been a long pandemic, it is important that everyone remains safe and handles production with care and caution as various films and shows start to resume filming. Hopefully, everything will work out and production for American Horror Story: Double Feature will be back to filming its second story soon. It is clear that the show is taking some new steps and working to make this milestone season unique and one of a kind, and it is evident that it will be coming back in a new, special way. Season 10 of American Horror Story is expected to premiere on August 25 and is set to contain ten episodes.
